Food&Wine Hotel Restaurant of the Year Awards



There were big celebrations for the family owned and run Dunmore House in Clonakilty on Sunday as Adrift, the fine dining restaurant at the 30 bedroom hotel, was announced as

Hotel Restaurant of the Year 2024 with The Oak Room at Adare Manor getting the Highly Commended award on the night.  

 

Now in their fourth generation at the beautiful seaside property, owner Carol Barrett along with her husband Richard accepted the award on Sunday 10th November at the ceremony held in The Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin, celebrating the best of Irish food and drink in a sold-out event hosted by Food & Wine editor Gillian Nelis. The competition was tough with other properties in the category including The George V Dining Room at Ashford Castle, Ballymaloe House Hotel, The Saddle Room at The Shelbourne and Landline at The Park Hotel, Kenmare to name just a few (see full list of finalists below). 

 

Speaking after the awards, Carol Barrett said, “We are delighted to win Hotel Restaurant of the Year at this year’s Food & Wine Awards. I am so proud of our son Peter, Manuel Canapini our lead chef, his team and also Miriam Rea our manager who make dining at Adrift such a joyful experience. It means so much to us as an independent, family business to be recognised in this way and to be nominated in such an incredible category alongside some of the most prestigious hospitality brands across the country. We absolutely love what we do at Dunmore House and to be named Hotel Restaurant of the Year is so very special.” 

 

Adrift is a beautiful space seating 40 guests with sweeping views across Clonakilty Bay. The menus change regularly and feature some of the best produce in the area with a focus on seafood from nearby Union Hall cooked simply and beautifully – guests can expect poached lobster, John Dory and scallops. Included in the Michelin Guide UK & Ireland since 2022, Adrift is open seven days a week from 6.30pm – 8.30pm.
