A cloudy IPA. And a good day ahead!

A cloudy IPA? It's not very cloudy at all, just see-through hazy. However, when weather forecasters say it will be cloudy, they usually mean it will be both cloudy and sunny. But if they were glass-half-full people, they could just as easily say it will be sunny.

Cloudy or not, this well-hopped IPA is an intense brew. It has an excellent

fruity flavour and a supple streak of bitterness that carries through to a very satisfying finish. It is Very Highly Recommended and our Beer of the Week.

Eight Degrees: This cloudy IPA was brewed with Irish pale ale malt, wheat and oats. It has a juicy hop aroma, rounded out with a dry hop addition of NZ's Nelson Sauvin. …. Cumulus are the puffy, fluffy heaps of cloud that we drew as kids, a signifier of fair weather.”

If you’re a glass-half-full person, you have a good day ahead!!

Geek Bits

Style: Cloudy IPA

Malt: Irish pale ale malt, oats, wheat.

Hops: Loral, Citra, Nelson Sauvin, Amarillo.

ABV: 5.2%

IBUs: 27

Food pairings are a strong point with Eight Degrees, and here they recommend crab crème brulée (a signature dish at The Tannery, Dungarvan).

The beer is also a delicious contrast to the tangy earthiness of Goat cheese with a tomato salad.

Also, try pairing a glass with a burnt Basque cheesecake and cherry compote. Again, you may have to dine out to find this cheesecake. Fifty-one is your lucky number! Try No 51 in the Coal Quay or L’Atitude 51 in Union Quay.
