Weekend indulgence at The Bookshelf Elysian. Brunch Delights and City Buzz

Brunch Delights and City Buzz

Italian Eggs

Embark on a Culinary Adventure at Cork's Modern Bookshop Café

Forget the ordinary brunch routine. The Bookshelf Elysian in Cork City offers an experience that's as delightful as it is delicious. Nestled within the iconic Elysian building, this modern, airy space offers something to eat or drink all day.

A Coffee and Pastry Symphony

Upon arrival, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee from The Barn Berlin instantly awakens your senses. Eye-catching rows of pastries beckon from the gleaming marble counter, tempting you with a pre-brunch indulgence. But resist, we must, for the brunch menu boasts a symphony of flavours that deserve our full attention.

Korean Chicken Burger

From Italian Elegance to Korean Delights

While The Bookshelf doesn't offer a traditional Full Irish, its "Fry Up" comes close. It features a decadent combination of free-range eggs, succulent Rosscarbery bacon, and sausages. Rosscarbery's premium-quality ingredients shine throughout the menu, including the French Toast and the dedicated Kid's Menu.

For those seeking something lighter, the Italian Baked Eggs are a dream and my pick from the list. Picture two perfectly poached free-range eggs nestled in a rustic tomato sauce adorned with smoked Scamorza cheese and a fragrant Parmesan crumb. This culinary masterpiece is served with house focaccia toast, creating a symphony of textures and flavours.

My colleague went even further afield. Their choice, the Korean BBQ Chicken Burger, was bursting with vibrant flavours. A juicy chicken breast is paired with creamy ranch coleslaw, tangy pickled red onion, and a house-made Korean BBQ sauce. The brioche bun and twice-cooked skinny fries complete this winning combination.

Beyond the Plate: A City Comes Alive

Leaving the vibrant Bookshelf with a satisfied smile, we stepped into the Cork sunshine. As we savoured the aftertaste of our delicious brunch, we leisurely took in the preparations for the Dragon Boat Race on nearby Lapps Quay. Remember, there's always something happening by the river on weekend mornings in Cork.
