James Whelan Butchers win coveted 3-star Great Taste 2024 award.
Judged by the Guild of Fine Food’s expert panel, the Thick-Cut Sharing Steak was awarded a Great Taste 3-star in the world’s most trusted food & drink awards.
Ireland’s much-loved and renowned artisan butchers, James Whelan Butchers, has been named among the
top food and drink producers globally this year, picking up a highly prized3-star Great Taste award for its Thick-Cut Sharing Steak.
13,672 products were put through the competition’s rigorous blind judging process and James Whelan Butchers’ Sharing Steak was a hit - winning one of just 266 3-star awards at the annual food and drink awards.
Judges could ‘not fault’ the steak, describing it as ‘slicing like butter’ and ‘sweet, intensely beefy and juicy’. The Thick-Cut steak was judged to be ‘pure clean meat that speaks volumes of a happy beefhood and careful, caring husbandry.”
Seven other James Whelan Butchers products earned stars in the awards, including a 2-star accolade for the Home Cured Rack of Bacon, while there were 1-star awards for Home Cured Bacon, Home Cured Rashers, Black Pudding, Rind on Traditional Cure Bacon and Salted Caramel Cure Bacon.
