a real joy to sip and linger over.

Long live those who dare to carry the power of the sun through wine to the hearts of men (Rainer Zierock)

The colour of our Manzoni Bianco is golden/yellow. Floral notes abound in

the aromatics along with apple, peach and apricot. The palate closely follows the aromas with that peach now leading the delicious way. This well-balanced wine is summed up well here by Le Caveaux: “Delicate and pure, a real joy to sip and linger over. It is 100% Manzoni Bianco, an early-20th-century crossing of Riesling and Pinot Bianco.”

Very Highly Recommended.

By 2002, Elisabetta Foradori had garnered international recognition for her work and visionary approach. …she decided to convert the estate to biodynamic viticulture. Seeing the change in the quality and drinkability of her wines, she applied for and received organic and biodynamic certification in 2009.

Today, I feel I have restored honour and creativity to my agricultural acts. In my work, I aspire to produce grapes and wine that express the true essence of my land. This same land that I will leave, healthy and alive, to my four children who will thus take pride in their freedom to choose whether they will be farmers.”

  • For more on Foradori see post here on their April 2024 tasting, led by Elisabetta’s son Theo Zierock (right), in Ballymaloe.

The hill overlooking Trento, with its clayey-limestone soils, welcomes the Manzoni Bianco and matures the grapes in late September. The character of the Fontanasanta vineyards is expressed through this hybrid… Its ability to evolve requires patience; Fontanasanta Manzoni Bianco is a wine that comes into its own at least three years after harvest. Fermentation is on the skins in cement tanks, followed by 7 months of ageing in acacia casks. Annual production: 20.000 bottles

  • This post is part of a series on Italian wines made from native grapes and produced by usually small or medium-sized organic wineries. Taking some “guidance” here from the recently published VINO. I may not always net the hat trick but hope to score two from the three each time. I have quite a few lined up but I’m happy to consider any suggestions or help. #OrganicItaly
