CORK FOOD: NEW PRODUCTS, NEW PLACES
Interesting stroll around town yesterday, after fuelling up with a coffee and scone at Electric on the Mall.
Called into Nash 19 for Karmine’s new product: Cider
Vinegar. This is produced by Con Trass of the Apple Farm in Cahir. Con says he really enjoys it as a salad dressing and that was why I bought it but the label also indicates that there is much anecdotal evidence “that consuming un-distilled cider vinegar assists with various ailments.....”

Mairéad then introduced me to another new product in Nash 19: Belgooly Buttermilk. This farm fresh buttermilk has been produced by John and Mary Cronin in Belgooly (087 1674011) and may be used for all kinds of things, from the simplest pancake to an elegant Rachel Allen Chocolate Cake (of which Nash 19 has a tempting example).
Meal Matters is one of two new food places I spotted yesterday. Opened for about five weeks, it is in the Paul Street shopping complex, directly across from the Tesco checkouts and this inviting Butcher shop has some lovely dishes, ready for the pot or oven, everything else done for you. Very convenient indeed! Have a look sometime.
