ELECTRIC

ELECTRIC

Electric, the new kid on the block, had a full scale trial last Saturday night and, from this diner’s point of view, came through with flying colours.

You can't miss this blue streaked building – the first on your right as you enter the Mall from the Grand Parade. And the name? Well it sounds cool but tradition has been honoured here as the building once housed the O’Shea’s electrical and garage business.

The restaurant is on the second floor and has views on three sides, of the river, the boardwalk and the Mall itself. Seating is comfortable and first impressions all round are very favourable.

Started off with the Home Smoked Duck, served with rainbow beetroots and leaves. By the way, the duck was much leaner that your normal smoked. Don't miss it!

And the continental feel continued
with my main course: Caramelised Shoulder of Lamb with Provencal couscous and tapenade. This was happy match of ingredients and top notch as was the other main course at the table: Fillet of Cod, served with spinach and basil vinaigrette.

Room for dessert and here the innovation – nothing really radical, but little tweaks here and there can enliven the routine – continued with my Lavender Brûlée (with shortbread biscuit) and a spot-on Lemon Tart.

All in all, a lovely meal, delivered with efficiency and courtesy. Must let you know of course that I was asked in to try it out and it was free. But the prices (including the wines)  are quite reasonable and I look forward to calling back there again when it is up and running and that happens this coming Wednesday (Nov 3rd) at 5.00pm.
Dinner: Wed- Sat from 5.00pm 021 4222990
41 South Mall.

How was the fish? Was it skin and bone free? I was there that night as well and our table had different dishes so great to read from your taste's perspective. Flying colours indeed!

Yeah, the cod went down well. They have some great choices and will have regular changes. No shortage of variety here!
